For Today

Although I still have to post my 2010 stuff, I wanted to quickly record a passage of scripture I read this morning that so appropriately compliments God's vision for me this year:

10 Do not say, "Why were the old days better than these?"
For it is not wise to ask such questions.

11 Wisdom, like an inheritance, is a good thing
and benefits those who see the sun.

12 Wisdom is a shelter
as money is a shelter,
but the advantage of knowledge is this:
that wisdom preserves the life of its possessor.

13 Consider what God has done:
Who can straighten
what he has made crooked?

14 When times are good, be happy;
but when times are bad, consider:
God has made the one
as well as the other.

Ecclesiates 7:10-14

  1. I'm just sitting here, amazed that those words came from the bible. That's scripture! Wow. So clearly cutting to the heart of the matter, although I can honestly say I didn't realize this was a struggle of yours. You do such a good job of living in the moment, that I'd never guess you look back. Really want to read the backstory on God's 2010 vision for you!

  2. I think the verse was more a confirmation to me that I do need to make the choice to leave 2009 behind...all of it, especially the good. The bad is easy to leave behind...don't want to live through it again - once was enough. But the good...the good tends to keep our hearts tied to "what was", and that's just as dangerous as always yearning for what I don't have or what could be.

God was telling confirming in my heart that my heart has to be clean and ready for what He has in store for me this year. It's not good for my heart to compare then and now. I lived then already. Live now...now.
