Remembering through photos...

Jesus said [to her], “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die.” John 11:25

Cali and Back

So, we're off to Cali, you and me, for a time of "so long, until we meet again" ... barring a last minute miracle healing.

Not sure what to expect. Unsure of how everything will play out.

But this I know, I'm there to leave a trail of grace behind me...

Lent Day 34: but then God

"...and do not hide from your relatives who need your help. Then your salvation will come like the dawn, and your wounds will heal quickly. Your godliness will lead you forward, and the glory of the Lord will protect you from behind. Then when you call, the Lord will answer. "Yes, I am here," he will quickly reply." Isaiah 58:7-9

I've been caught in the trap of not doing anything because I just didn't know what to say. It's easy to tell another, "Just pick up the phone and call. You don't have to have the answers, you just have to be there." It's another thing to step out of my own box and practice what I preach.

When the news continually grows more bleak, and the prayed for miracle [feels like] it's slipping away, the awkwardness of "What do I say now?" shouts instead of whispers.

I was guilty of "hiding from my relative" because I had run out of words that I thought would help. I fell victim to that process of "I just won't say anything out of fear of saying the wrong thing". FEAR was at it again in my life.

"You've let too much time pass without picking up the phone; without writing that email; without sending that text. You've been selfish with your time. You should have thought more about others when you were drowning in your own set of supposed problems. You won't be forgiven. There won't be understanding or grace extended. Don't pick up that phone now. Don't sit down and write that email. Don't even think of reaching out with that text."

THIS is the voice that constantly speaks in my ear when it comes to the ways I let others down by allowing too much time to pass between communication ... any type of communication.

But then God ...

He stepped in with a prophetic word for her. He eliminated my need to feel awkward with the time I'd let slip by bridging that time gap with Himself.

And today He's asking me, "Would you not extend grace to the person who hasn't called you in just as much time? Would you ignore their text? Would you not read their email? Of course you would! Ignore the voice and just move forward today."
